Trina Storage Delivers Egypt’s First Utility-Scale Solar-Plus-Storage Project in Just 60 Days

Trina Storage, the energy storage division of Trinasolar and a global leader in battery energy solutions, has announced the successful completion of a 300MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Egypt. Delivered two months ahead of schedule, the landmark project sets a new standard for large-scale energy storage deployment in North Africa.

Developed by AMEA Power, the BESS extends the company’s operational 500MW solar PV plant in Egypt’s Aswan Governorate, which was commissioned in December 2024. As the exclusive energy storage partner, Trina Storage deployed its advanced Elementa 2 platform—covering everything from in-house LFP battery cells and DC compartments to AC-side integration—ensuring smooth connection to the national grid.

The facility represents Egypt’s first utility-scale integrated solar and storage project, designed to enhance grid stability and enable solar power availability beyond daylight hours. It is expected to reduce grid strain during peak demand and contribute significantly to the country’s renewable energy ambitions under Egypt’s Vision 2030.

“Despite extremely high temperatures and a complex grid environment in the Middle East and North Africa, we completed installation, grid connection, and delivery of the 300MWh system in just 60 days,” said Vincent Wu, Global Sales Vice President and MEA MU Head at Trinasolar. “This milestone underscores how fast and reliable energy storage can directly support national energy stability and security goals.”

Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power, added: “This landmark project strengthens Egypt’s electricity grid resilience while advancing its renewable energy agenda. It reaffirms our commitment to innovation and sustainability across Africa.”

The project’s success was driven by continuous collaboration between Trina Storage’s technical teams and strategic partners. The Elementa 2 system, engineered specifically for desert environments, offers high energy density, smart liquid cooling, modular architecture, and advanced safety features—ensuring reliable, long-term performance. Its rapid installation capabilities make it ideally suited for large-scale renewable projects in challenging climates.

By completing this BESS project ahead of schedule, Trina Storage has reinforced its position as a key clean energy partner in the Middle East and Africa, demonstrating the capability to deliver complex renewable infrastructure quickly and reliably while supporting national energy transition strategies.
