Fog reduces visibility as red and yellow alerts issued

Residents across the UAE can expect fair to partly cloudy conditions on Saturday, August 29, with temperatures remaining high across the country, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The weather department issued red and yellow alerts for fog in parts of the UAE during the early morning hours, warning of reduced horizontal visibility. Visibility could deteriorate further at times, particularly over some western coastal areas.

Authorities also activated speed reductions on some roads in Abu Dhabi for a short period due to the reduced visibility.

UAE temperatures to remain high

Saturday is expected to remain hot across the country, with temperatures reaching up to 48°C in some areas.

Abu Dhabi is forecast to record maximum temperatures of around 46°C, while Dubai could see temperatures of up to 44°C.

Humidity is expected to increase during the night and into Sunday morning, particularly over coastal areas.

Chance of convective clouds in eastern areas

The NCM forecast fair to partly cloudy conditions, with the possibility of convective cloud formation over eastern parts of the country during the afternoon.

Winds are expected to be light to moderate, generally blowing from southeast to northeast. They may strengthen at times, with blowing dust possible.

Wind speeds are forecast to range between 10 and 25 kmph, occasionally reaching 40 kmph.

Sea conditions remain slight

The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are expected to experience slight sea conditions.

Motorists, particularly those travelling through areas affected by fog, are advised to exercise caution and follow speed restrictions and road safety instructions issued by authorities.
