UAE residents can expect fair to partly cloudy weather on Saturday, August 15, with clouds appearing at times over northern and eastern parts of the country, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM issued red and yellow alerts in some parts of the country during the early morning, warning of reduced visibility of less than 1,000 metres. The alerts were in effect from 4:15am to 8:30am, with fog expected to affect visibility in some areas.
Temperatures are expected to dip slightly in some coastal areas, although hot conditions will continue across the UAE. Temperatures could reach 48°C in some parts of the country, while Abu Dhabi is expected to record highs of around 44°C and Dubai could see temperatures of up to 43°C.
Humidity is expected to increase during the night and into Sunday morning, particularly over some coastal areas. The NCM also forecast a possibility of mist formation, which could contribute to reduced visibility in affected locations.
Winds will be light to moderate, initially blowing from the southeast before becoming northwesterly. They may strengthen at times, with speeds ranging between 10kmph and 20kmph and reaching up to 35kmph. Stronger winds could also lead to blowing dust in some areas.
Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. Residents, particularly motorists travelling during the early morning, are advised to remain alert and follow weather-related safety instructions in areas affected by fog or reduced visibility.
