Etihad ESCO signs Service Agreement with Drydocks World

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of Etihad ESCO, and HE Abdulrahman Al Saleh, Chairman of Dry Docks World, have signed a Service Agreement to evaluate the potential for on-site solar energy generation.

Under the agreement, Etihad ESCO will enhance facilities to minimize electricity and water usage and research methods to recycle waste water for Drydocks World, which is the largest shipyard service provider to the shipping, offshore, oil, gas and energy sectors in the Middle East. Etihad ESCO will also perform a feasibility research to assess the possibilities for on-site solar power generation for Drydocks World.

"The contract supports the UAE Vision 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021 to accomplish sustainable development in the UAE. It likewise supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to develop Dubai's position as an international center for clean energy and energy effectiveness. Through this agreement, we aim to support Drydocks' green efforts by providing sustainable solutions that decrease usage and support the development and sustainability of environment-friendly centers," said Al Tayer.

"This contract supports instruction number 1 of 2015, released by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, to monitor electrical energy and water usage in Dubai government buildings. Etihad ESCO's main goal is to develop a standalone market for energy effectiveness, with a strategic plan to retrofit at least 30,000 existing buildings in the Emirate," included Al Tayer.

"Drydocks World is a leader in carrying out sustainable green innovations. Through the finalizing of this contract with Etihad ESCO, we intend to continue our efforts in energy preservation and restate our commitment to the Dubai Plan 2021. Our partnership with Etihad ESCO will substantially enhance sustainable operations at the Drydocks centers, along with advantage our staff members, partners and customers," said Al Saleh.
