DHL Express and Landmark Group Partner to Decarbonise Regional Supply Chains
DHL Express has entered into a strategic sustainability partnership with Landmark Group, marking a major advancement in efforts to reduce carbon emissions across regional and international supply chains. The agreement enables Landmark Group to leverage DHL’s GoGreen Plus programme, which uses Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to cut carbon emissions from air freight operations.
Landmark Group, one of the region’s largest retail and hospitality conglomerates with more than 2,200 stores across 21 countries, will adopt GoGreen Plus to lower its Scope 3 emissions—the category of emissions typically hardest for companies to address. Through this programme, traditional jet fuel is replaced with SAF made from renewable feedstocks, directly reducing emissions within the logistics chain instead of relying on conventional carbon offset models.
According to DHL, each tonne of SAF used can reduce lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil-based aviation fuel. These reductions are verified and certified by independent third-party SGS, ensuring full transparency and accountability for customers.
The agreement was signed at DHL’s UAE Head Office in Dubai by Mahmoud Haj Hussein, Country Manager of DHL Express UAE, and Rajesh Garg, Group Chief Financial Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer at Landmark Group.
Hussein noted that DHL’s global commitment of €7 billion towards climate-neutral logistics by 2030 is being translated into measurable action through partnerships such as this. He added that Landmark Group’s adoption of GoGreen Plus underscores the private sector’s growing commitment to enabling net-zero logistics.
Garg emphasized that sustainability is being integrated across Landmark Group’s operations and that SAF plays an essential role in reducing the company’s supply chain emissions. He highlighted the importance of working with forward-looking partners to accelerate the transition toward a net-zero future.
The collaboration aligns with the UAE’s National Net Zero 2050 Strategy and supports broader national and global climate goals. By addressing Scope 3 emissions—often the largest share of corporate carbon footprints—both organisations aim to contribute to systemic change within the logistics and retail sectors.
