FusionSolar Technical Innovation Summit by Huawei unveils new solutions for the region’s renewable energy transition

Huawei Digital Power Middle East & Central Asia successfully concluded the FusionSolar Technical Innovation Summit 2025 in Dubai, bringing together global energy leaders, utilities, regulators, and industry experts to discuss the next phase of renewable energy integration and grid stability across the region.

The summit served as a platform for unveiling cutting-edge technologies and initiating high-level dialogue on navigating the increasing complexity of high-renewable energy systems.

Alex Xing, President of Huawei Digital Power Middle East & Central Asia, emphasized the importance of innovation in ensuring renewable energy readiness.
“Transitioning to a high-renewable energy system requires a stable, resilient, and intelligent grid capable of seamless integration,” Xing said. “Grid-forming innovation and high-quality solutions form the foundation of this evolution, and Huawei aims to foster an environment where technology, unified standards, and industry partnerships converge to overcome the challenges of high renewable penetration.”

He highlighted Huawei’s decade of investment in grid-forming R&D, its leadership in Smart String Energy Storage Systems (ESS), and the growing role of AI-driven lifecycle optimization for large-scale solar and storage projects.

The summit featured contributions from leading organizations including MESIA, IRENA, EWEC, DNV, HDEC, and Go2Power, covering emerging market trends, engineering best practices, grid code compliance, and the financial and safety factors shaping the region’s renewable energy roadmap. Speakers collectively noted that the Middle East & Central Asia region is entering an era of rapid renewable adoption—one in which grid-forming ESS technologies will be critical to maintaining reliability.

During the event, Huawei released its Smart String Grid-Forming ESS White Paper and a comprehensive Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) Report. These publications provide technical frameworks and real-world benchmarks for grid-forming storage, illustrating key capabilities such as fault ride-through, virtual inertia, frequency control, black start, and seamless transitions between grid-connected and off-grid modes. The reports offer detailed engineering guidance to support stable and resilient high-renewable power systems.

The FusionSolar Technical Innovation Summit reinforced Huawei Digital Power’s long-term strategy to accelerate global clean energy adoption. By integrating digital technologies with advanced power electronics, Huawei aims to deliver intelligent, safe, and reliable energy systems across Smart PV, energy storage, data centers, and EV charging infrastructure—supporting a more sustainable and electrified future in the Middle East, Central Asia, and worldwide.
