Towards Net Zero: Chalhoub Group Partners with Yellow Door Energy to Power Riyadh Fulfilment Hub with Solar Energy

In a major step toward achieving its sustainability goals, Chalhoub Group, the Middle East’s leading luxury retailer, has signed a solar lease agreement with Yellow Door Energy, a top sustainable energy partner in the Middle East and Africa. The partnership aims to bring clean, renewable power to Chalhoub Group’s cutting-edge fulfilment hub in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The signing ceremony took place at Chalhoub Group’s Riyadh office, attended by senior representatives from both companies, including Mohammad Traboulsi, Siraj Sagga, Khaled Chebaro, Mohammed Al-Dabbagh, Omar Zaouiri, Moutasim Jamjoom, and Dany Kassabian.

A Landmark Renewable Energy Initiative

Under the agreement, Yellow Door Energy will finance, design, construct, commission, operate, and maintain a 100% off-grid rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 848 kilowatt-peak (kWp). The project will feature over 1,380 solar panels, expected to generate approximately 1.2 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity in the first year of operation — equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 460 metric tons annually.

Construction of the solar facility is already underway and is scheduled for completion in early 2026. The project represents a significant step forward in Chalhoub Group’s environmental journey and underscores its commitment to advancing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Net Zero by 2060 vision.

Sustainable Energy Through Smart Partnerships

The solar lease model adopted by Chalhoub Group allows the company to benefit from clean energy without bearing operational or financial risks. Yellow Door Energy will manage the project end-to-end, enabling Chalhoub Group to focus on its core business operations while furthering its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives.

Mohammed Al-Dabbagh, KSA Managing Director at Chalhoub Group, emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to sustainability:

“At Chalhoub Group, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our solar lease with Yellow Door Energy is a tangible reflection of our dedication to the planet, our people, and our partners. Through initiatives like this, we are not only reducing our environmental footprint but also contributing to Saudi Arabia’s broader sustainability ambitions.”

Khaled Chebaro, Country Director KSA at Yellow Door Energy, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the collaboration’s environmental and economic impact:

“We are honored to partner with Chalhoub Group, an iconic luxury retailer that has been adorning the Middle East since 1955. This solar lease will deliver substantial cost savings and carbon emission reductions, proving that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand. It also reinforces the Kingdom’s leadership in renewable energy as part of its Net Zero by 2060 commitment.”

A Step Toward a Greener Future

By integrating solar energy into its operations, Chalhoub Group continues to lead by example in corporate sustainability, aligning its strategy with national goals and global environmental standards. The partnership with Yellow Door Energy not only marks a significant milestone for both organizations but also demonstrates how collaborative innovation can accelerate the region’s transition toward a clean energy future.
