“Clean UAE 2025” campaign inspires Ras Al Khaimah community as 720 volunteers collect over 2.3 tonnes of waste
The 24th cycle of the Clean UAE Campaign, organised by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) under the patronage of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, made its sixth stop in Ras Al Khaimah, mobilising the community in a powerful demonstration of environmental responsibility.
Held in strategic partnership with the Public Services Department – Ras Al Khaimah, the Environment Protection and Development Authority, and Ras Al Khaimah Police, the campaign reinforced the emirate’s commitment to sustainability, environmental protection, and community engagement.
More than 720 volunteers from across society—including families, students, government entities, private sector organisations, and community groups—participated in the clean-up across two locations in Ras Al Khaimah. Equipped with specially designed cotton T-shirts, caps, cotton gloves, and biodegradable bags, volunteers worked collectively across designated zones.
Covering a total area of 7.5 kilometres, participants successfully removed 2,327 kilograms of waste, while an additional 205 kilograms of recyclable material were segregated and sent to accredited local recycling facilities. The effort highlighted the campaign’s strong emphasis on responsible waste management and circular economy practices.
Addressing participants, Dr. Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of EEG, praised Ras Al Khaimah’s continued support and leadership in advancing environmental protection. She noted that since its launch in 2002, the Clean UAE Campaign has evolved into a nationwide movement that fosters environmental awareness, encourages behavioural change, and empowers communities to take meaningful action.
Dr. Al Mar’ashi emphasised that the campaign’s growth over 24 cycles reflects the UAE’s increasing dedication to environmental preservation and civic responsibility. Beyond waste removal, she highlighted the initiative’s role in strengthening social cohesion through teamwork, volunteerism, and shared community pride.
She reaffirmed EEG’s long-term commitment to driving environmental progress through education, advocacy, and collaboration with public and private sector partners.
H.E. Eng. Khalid Fadhl Al Ali, Director General of the Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah, said the emirate was proud to support the Clean UAE Campaign, describing it as a vital initiative that promotes environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and the protection of natural resources for future generations.
Dr. Al Mar’ashi also expressed gratitude to the campaign’s Main Sponsors, McDonald’s UAE and Salik, for their continued support, as well as Support Sponsors CANPACK Middle East, Dubai Investments, and Farnek.
