Cargo, ground handling firms see good growth potential

Ground managing and freight handling companies getting involved at the Airport Show 2016 are positive about enhanced business chances and are planning to venture into the other Gulf countries.

A lot of companies see enhanced capacity for expanding businesses across the Middle East in view of the anticipated boost in financial investment in infrastructure projects, especially airport expansions, trading activities and traveler traffic following a realisation to diversify their economies far from oil-related activities.

Germany-based TEC Huenert GmbH, which specialises in the advancement and manufacture of airport ground support devices for the aviation industry, has shown their product range including passenger stairs, VIP mobile escalator stairs, water and toilet service vehicle and its ingenious Rescuestair systems.

"We have supplied the Rescuestair system to the Maktoum International Airport and are taking a look at associating with other airports in the region, particularly in Saudi Arabia, which is a big market," said Viktoriya Sarafova, International Sales, of TEC Huenert, displaying the business's products at the Airport Show.

"Our participation at the Airport Show enables us to assess business potential in view of the enquiries from trade visitors," Viktoriya included.

Products that of much need in the area are VIP mobile escalator stairs and ground support equipment including towed passengerstairs.

A core item made by TEC Huenert is its Rescuestair emergency evacuation airstair system (EEAS). Rescuestair is particularly designed to be utilized by airport rescue and firefighting brigades. Its primary purpose is to reach rapidly an aircraft, which is associated with a mishap, to rescue passengers from the airplane and to offer access for emergency services to the airplane.

Another German business topsystem Systemhaus GmbH, which offers Digital Apron Fleet Management system and cargo handling options, is also seeing good capacity in the area and plans to extend operations throughout the Middle East.

"The Gulf area has great capacity for our business and we wish to be present there, especially in Saudi Arabia, to provide our services," said Jorg Riermeier, Vice President, Head of Sales and Job Management, with topsystem Systemhaus.
