AL TAYER Poised for Big World Title in China

Abu Dhabi's Rashed Al Tayer is making a big effort in China over the next two days to keep his hopes alive for the first World AquaBikes title.

With teammate Rashid Al Mulla on the verge of the second freestyle crown in the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championships, Al Tayer is set to bring his best form to the Qingdao Grand Prix, after placing sixth in today's runabout GB1 pole position race.

Denmark's Marcus Jorgensen, who leads Al Dyer and Poland's Andrej Wisniewski by two points in the championship standings, topped the qualifiers for Saturday and Sunday afternoon motos.

Al Tayer, who won the season-opening Grand Prix in Portugal, wants to make sure he has at least one major world title challenge ahead of December's final in Sharjah.

Team Abu Dhabis Salman Al Awadhi completed a highly creditable third day in the first of three Ski GP1 motos this weekend which was won by Austrian championship leader Kevin Reiterer.

Al Mulla, aiming for the ninth consecutive Grand Prix win, will be launching the first of two motos in China tomorrow afternoon in a pole position.
