Dubai, United Arab Emirates; 19 September 2015: The legal communitys event of the year put on by lawyers for lawyers is expected to be even bigger than ever this year, thanks to the support of some of the UAEs largest and most well-known companies.

This years event takes place on Thursday, October 29, at the Madinat Jumeirahs Johara Ballroom in Dubai and is expected to attract over 800 members of Dubais local and international legal community for an evening of awards and entertainment. The evening celebrates the legal communitys collective achievements over the previous 12 months, with the winners of the coveted Young Lawyer of the Year and Lawyers Lawyer of the Year awards being voted upon live during the evening.

Sheila Shadmand, Chair of the Annual Legal Gala Dinner Committee, said: The legal community looks forward to The Annual Legal Gala Dinner each year because it is one of the few times in the year when we legal practitioners sit together at the same tables rather than on opposing sides. This years event promises to be an evening of grace and glamour, where we can celebrate our collective achievements as a community with prestigious awards and spirited entertainment.

The Annual Legal Gala Dinner, now in its fourth year, is being held under the auspices of the newly formed DIFCs Academy of Law (AOL). The AOL was established in 2015 as an independent entity to provide quality ancillary services to the UAE legal community. Its core functions include training and regulating lawyers, publishing and disseminating information, hosting events for the legal community, and providing free legal advice for people in need as part of its Pro Bono Programme. The Pro Bono Programme, the first initiative of its kind in the Middle East, is run by the AOL with the support of volunteer lawyers and law graduates. The Programme offers basic advice through to full case management and representation in proceedings on DIFC-related matters. Two clinics are held each month at the DIFC Courts where potential litigants are able to make appointments to meet with volunteers for legal advice.
