Geely UAE launches new NEV brand with all-new plug-in hybrid Geely EX5 EM-i

AGMC, the official distributor of Geely Auto in the UAE, has announced the launch of the all-new Geely EX5 EM-i plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term commitment to sustainable mobility and the introduction of the Geely New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand across the country.

Built on Geely’s advanced Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA) and powered by the EM-i Super Hybrid System, the Geely EX5 EM-i redefines the C-SUV segment by combining performance, design, and efficiency. The model delivers an exceptional total driving range of 1,065 km, including 170 km on pure electric power, and achieves world-leading engine thermal efficiency of 46.5%.

Equipped with a 1.5L petrol engine and a 29.8 kWh battery, the EX5 EM-i produces up to 317 hp and 387 Nm of torque, while maintaining a record-low fuel consumption of 4.3L/100 km. The vehicle’s intelligent Flyme Auto System, featuring voice commands, a 16-speaker entertainment system, and the Geely smartphone app, enhances user connectivity through functions such as remote cabin cooling and real-time vehicle location tracking.

Premium design and comfort

The EX5 EM-i features a minimalist, aerodynamic exterior, defined by nine sculpted body surfaces, floating contours, and a continuous light strip that extends into full-width taillights. Inside, the cabin combines elegance and functionality, offering 2,056L of total storage space, ergonomic eight-layer seats with three-level ventilation, and advanced features such as a 15.4-inch infotainment display, 256-colour ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof in the MAX+ variant.

For outdoor enthusiasts, a dedicated camping mode allows users to optimize lighting and music while using the vehicle as an external power source — ideal for weekend adventures in the UAE’s landscapes.

Setting new safety benchmarks

The Geely EX5 EM-i upholds top-tier safety standards, earning five-star ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP. Built on the GEA platform, it incorporates a triple-power redundancy system to eliminate range anxiety and features a six-horizontal, four-vertical safety cell for superior impact absorption.

Its “sandwich” battery underguard, tested under extreme conditions, offers exceptional protection, while six large-volume airbags, including full-length side curtains, ensure passenger safety. The EX5 EM-i also features a 360-degree intelligent safety suite, including lane assist and collision mitigation, powered by high-precision cameras and radar systems.
