Into the world of words with Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

Not everyone has a big appetite for unlimited food. Not everyone can walk from stall to stall savouring different cuisines. There are some whose hunger is for words, the ones who get seduced by nothing but the smell of books.

If you fall in the latter category, forget the food festival, you have the Arab Worlds largest celebration of the written and spoken word awaiting you The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.

This year, bibliophiles and lit-lovers can catch up the Literature Festival throughout the first nine days of March as it runs from March 1 to 9 at the InterContinental, Dubai Festival City under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The 2019 edition will be held in partnership with Emirates Airline and the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirates dedicated authority for culture, arts and heritage.

The Festival was launched in the year 2009 with 65 authors and grew extensively to host over 180 authors from 50 countries in 2018, inviting over 41,000 visitors.

The 9 days of everything and anything Literature will host a number of interesting programmes.

The highlight programmes will include a bunch of interesting sessions by prominent authors on engaging and enthusing topics such as Beyond Tolerance, Future World, Women at the Crossroads, Sessions for Families, Young Adult Programme along with some free events.

The event will also comprise a mixture of talks, debates, workshops and child-centered programmes. Publishing and Education Programmes have further been slated in the Literature Festival schedule.
