Ras Al Khaimah Welcomes 2026 with Record-Breaking Drone Show and 6km Fireworks Spectacle

Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) ushered in 2026 with a breathtaking New Year’s Eve celebration that combined world-class technology with family-friendly charm, setting a new Guinness World Records title for the largest aerial display of a phoenix formed by multirotors/drones. The event drew thousands of residents and visitors to the emirate’s scenic coastline for an evening of entertainment, community spirit, and record-breaking visuals.

A Family-Centered Celebration on the Waterfront

From the early evening, crowds began gathering along Ras Al Khaimah’s waterfront areas, including Marjan Island, Al Hamra, and Corniche Al Qawasim, where public performances, food stalls, and music created a festive, open-air atmosphere. With clear skies and well-managed traffic, the emirate offered a relaxed yet vibrant alternative to the packed city-center celebrations of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Visitors praised RAK’s accessible coastal venues, which allowed families and tourists to enjoy uninterrupted views of the fireworks and drone show in a peaceful environment.

A Record-Breaking Drone Performance

At the stroke of midnight, the night sky transformed into a dynamic work of art as 2,300 drones, including 1,000 pyro drones, synchronized in an awe-inspiring 15-minute aerial display. The formation of a phoenix, symbolizing renewal and optimism, captivated spectators and earned Ras Al Khaimah a new Guinness World Records title.

The drone performance was followed by a six-kilometre fireworks display stretching from Marjan Island to Al Hamra, painting the sky with waves of color and light that illuminated the coastline. The precisely timed show created a seamless transition between cutting-edge drone technology and traditional pyrotechnics.

Early Fireworks and Entertainment Across the Emirate

Earlier in the evening, an additional fireworks show at Corniche Al Qawasim extended the celebrations across multiple districts, ensuring that families throughout RAK could take part in the festivities. Beachfront resorts and public viewing areas hosted live music, entertainment acts, and food festivals, further highlighting the emirate’s commitment to inclusive celebrations for residents and visitors alike.

A Celebration of Unity and Optimism

Commenting on the milestone, Phillipa Harrison, CEO of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), said:

“This celebration was designed for everyone — a shared moment of joy that brings together our community and international guests. While the Guinness World Record is a wonderful recognition, our focus has always been on creating meaningful memories and welcoming the new year with optimism.”

Reinforcing Ras Al Khaimah’s Global Appeal

With its latest record-breaking display, Ras Al Khaimah has strengthened its global reputation as a premier destination for innovative and emotionally resonant New Year’s Eve celebrations. The emirate’s blend of world-class event management, advanced technology, and community engagement has made it one of the UAE’s most anticipated NYE destinations — setting a spectacular tone for 2026.
