Dubai Fountain Show to Flag Garden: 5 Free Events You Can Still Catch Before They End
From fireworks and drone shows to cultural displays — enjoy the UAE’s best free attractions this winter
The New Year festivities may be over, but Dubai’s vibrant winter season continues to offer plenty of free attractions for residents and tourists alike. With cool weather and a festive atmosphere across the UAE, now is the perfect time to explore outdoor experiences that combine art, culture, and entertainment — all without spending a dirham.
Here are five free events you can still catch before they wrap up:
1. Dubai Shopping Festival (Ends January 11)
The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) remains the city’s biggest retail celebration, offering discounts of up to 90% across top brands. Beyond shopping, visitors can enjoy fireworks, drone shows, live concerts, and celebrity performances.
Mega raffles are also part of the fun, with chances to win a Nissan Patrol, Dh1 million in cash, and one million Blue Points.
2. New Year Dubai Fountain Show (Till January 7)
The Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa continue to dazzle visitors with extended light and water shows celebrating the new year. This season’s highlight was a record-setting performance featuring Lebanese conductor Yasmina Sabah, who led a live orchestra while suspended mid-air.
Catch the final shows before they end on January 7 at Downtown Dubai.
3. Flag Garden, Umm Suqeim Beach (Till January 10)
An annual favourite, the Flag Garden on Umm Suqeim Beach transforms into a patriotic art installation featuring thousands of UAE flags forming aerial portraits of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
The exhibition remains open to visitors until January 10, offering a powerful display of national pride and artistry.
4. Drone Show at Bluewaters (Till January 11)
Over 1,000 drones light up the sky above Bluewaters and The Beach, JBR, under the theme “Celebrations.” The nightly spectacle features stunning formations — including Johnny Depp’s ‘The Bunnyman’ artwork — alongside a synchronized lighting display at Ain Dubai.
On January 10, special skydiver jumps will add extra excitement to the show.
5. Fireworks at Dubai Festival City (Till January 11)
End your evening at Dubai Festival City, where fireworks explode across the waterfront every night at 8:30 pm. The destination also hosts free live performances in music, dance, and theatre, continuing the festive mood for 38 straight days of entertainment.
Make the Most of Dubai’s Festive Season
With most attractions running until mid-January, residents and tourists still have time to experience Dubai’s world-class entertainment, family-friendly events, and cultural showcases. Whether you’re shopping, sightseeing, or simply enjoying the winter weather, these free events offer something for everyone.
