Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Porsche AG have entered into a strategic partnership to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence across Porsche’s mobility value chain, combining automotive expertise with AI, engineering and digital transformation capabilities.
The five-year strategic partnership will focus on applying AI across areas including manufacturing, engineering, operations and customer experience. As part of the agreement, TCS will also establish a dedicated AI Mobility Centre of Excellence for Porsche.
In a separate but related development, TCS, through its subsidiary, has agreed to acquire 100% of MHP Management- und IT-Beratung GmbH (MHP), Porsche’s Germany-based management and IT consulting subsidiary. The transaction remains subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.
TCS to Establish AI Mobility Centre of Excellence
The new AI Mobility Centre of Excellence will focus on developing and scaling AI applications across Porsche’s product and value chain.
The initiative is expected to support areas such as intelligent manufacturing and operations, engineering and customer experience. TCS said the centre will focus on delivering secure and scalable AI capabilities designed to support Porsche’s broader transformation towards software-defined mobility.
The partnership brings together TCS’ capabilities in artificial intelligence, engineering and technology-led business transformation with Porsche’s automotive expertise.
MHP Acquisition to Expand TCS’ Automotive Capabilities
The proposed acquisition of MHP is expected to further strengthen TCS’ presence in Germany and across the European automotive and industrial sectors.
MHP brings expertise in automotive and industrial consulting, business transformation, artificial intelligence, SAP, manufacturing digitalisation and connected mobility. Its integration with TCS is expected to complement the technology company’s existing capabilities while expanding its engagement with automotive and industrial customers.
The transaction will allow TCS to combine MHP’s industry-focused consulting expertise with its global technology and AI capabilities.
Three Pillars of the Strategic Partnership
The partnership between TCS and Porsche is built around three key areas.
First, AI execution and outcomes: TCS will work with Porsche to scale AI across the mobility value chain through the new AI Mobility Centre of Excellence. The focus will include product and value-chain applications, intelligent manufacturing, operations, engineering and customer experience.
Second, long-term AI transformation: The five-year strategic agreement is intended to provide a long-term framework for scaling AI initiatives and creating value across Porsche’s operations.
Third, stronger European automotive presence: The acquisition of MHP is expected to enhance TCS’ footprint in Germany and strengthen its position among automotive and industrial customers across Europe.
Focus on Software-Defined Mobility
The partnership comes as artificial intelligence and software become increasingly important to the automotive industry. By combining AI capabilities with engineering, manufacturing and connected-mobility expertise, TCS and Porsche aim to support the development of more intelligent and digitally enabled mobility solutions.
TCS CEO and Managing Director K. Krithivasan said the partnership combines TCS’ AI, engineering and technology capabilities with MHP’s automotive consulting expertise, creating an opportunity to industrialise AI at scale and advance intelligent, software-defined mobility.
Porsche CEO Dr. Michael Leiters said the transfer of MHP to TCS forms part of Porsche’s focus on its core business while allowing the company to gain a strategic technology partner. He also highlighted the potential to combine automotive expertise with TCS’ digital technology and AI capabilities to strengthen innovation, efficiency and competitiveness.
Transaction Subject to Regulatory Approvals
The proposed acquisition of MHP is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. Deutsche Bank AG is acting as financial advisor, while Noerr is serving as legal counsel to TCS in connection with the transaction.
TCS, founded in 1968, operates across 55 countries through 202 service delivery centres. The company is part of the Tata Group and has increasingly positioned artificial intelligence as a central component of its technology services strategy.
The partnership with Porsche and proposed acquisition of MHP mark a significant expansion of TCS’ role in the automotive technology ecosystem, particularly in AI-driven transformation, intelligent manufacturing and software-defined mobility.
