GITEX 2019: Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation Announces Complete Switch to Digital Publications

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MPRF) has announced that all its publications are moving towards digital editions, available to all readers of the Foundation's website and the Dubai Digital Library (DDL).

The MBRF made the declaration when it concluded its 39th GITEX Technology Week at the World Trade Center in Dubai on October 6-10, 2019, where it showcases the latest updates on its digital plans and initiatives, In accordance with the Dubai Paperless Strategy 2021, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prince of Dubai Crown Prince, Dubai Executive Council, launched in February 2019.

The Foundation has shed light on the latest updates on the Dubai Digital Library app, which offers 246,000 headings and 2.06 million digital publications, including books, studies, journals, newspapers and research papers, in addition to cultural and traditional content. DDL has so far registered over 150,000 users from around the world.

The update also includes a new feature that allows users to browse the app's most read books, in addition to various new subscription packages at nominal rates divided by user's preferences. In addition, the Epub feature makes it very convenient to read books on smartphones.

Jamal bin Huaireb, CEO of MBRF, stressed that the Foundation is working to make a significant involvement to implementing the objectives of the Dubai Paperless Strategy and the intelligent leadership of the UAE. We are actively working to improve and continuously improve digital services in the knowledge and cultural spheres, which provides the public with easy access to the Foundation's programs and initiatives from the comfort of their smartphones, H.E. bin Huwaireb said, GITEX Technology Week underscores the importance of being a key global platform to showcase smart services and expose sophisticated technologies that support the production and dissemination of knowledge.

Set to welcome over 4,800 exhibitors and speakers from around the world, GITEX Technology Week 2019 has an agenda full of seminars, workshops and exhibitions that will create 290 hours of content. The program of the year is divided into subcategories, each in addition to the first GITEX Awards, in a region of emerging technology including game-changing 5G technology, future mobility, artificial intelligence (AI) and smart cities.
