GEMS Education Students set Guinness World Records Title to Recognise the US$1 million Global Teacher Prize

Close to 2,000 pupils across GEMS Education schools in the UAE gathered to develop the Largest Human Image of a Hashtag symbol - establishing another Guinness World Records title - to celebrate the Varkey Structure's Global Educator Prize 2018.

The 1,927 students who produced the human hashtag were come with by near 3000 students that formed the letters 'GTP' which mean 'Global Teacher Prize'.

Currently in its fourth year, the US$ 1 million award is the largest reward of its kind, and was established to identify one outstanding educator who has made an outstanding contribution to the occupation along with to beam a spotlight on the vital role teachers play in society.

Together, the students introduced the name of the victor of this year's reward - Andria Zafirakou, an art and fabrics instructor from Alperton Community School in London, UK - at a glittering ceremony adhering to the Global Education and Skills Forum, held in Dubai.

This is the fifth world record tried by trainees of GEMS Education and the 4th document that they have created.

Paying a tribute to the UAE on National Day, in 2017, GEMS trainees created the World's Largest Human Waving National Flag and in 2016, developed the Worlds Largest Transforming Human Image. In 2015, students created a document for the world's largest human sentence and in 2014, trainees of 119 races from GEMS Education sang the UAE national anthem at one time.
