HBMSU Chancellor highlights smart learning on International Literacy Day
Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing literacy through smart learning in line with the global theme of International Literacy Day 2025, “Enhancing Literacy in the Digital Era.”
H.E. Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of HBMSU, emphasized that the university’s mission since its inception has been to champion digital education as a pioneering model. He noted that the integration of advanced technologies in learning is key to preparing future generations capable of addressing challenges, particularly combating illiteracy in the Arab world.
Quoting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, from his book My Vision: Challenges in the Race for Excellence, Dr. Al Awar recalled: “Teaching our children through traditional methods alone is a new form of illiteracy that has no place in any society aspiring to join the global race.”
In alignment with this vision, HBMSU has developed an innovative educational ecosystem built on smart transformation and lifelong learning. This model allows for greater dissemination of knowledge, offering individuals the opportunity to learn anytime and anywhere, with fewer resources and in less time compared to conventional education methods.
On this occasion, Dr. Al Awar called on policymakers, educational institutions, and universities to unify efforts in adopting smart learning models. He highlighted that such approaches have consistently demonstrated their effectiveness in fighting illiteracy and expanding access to education globally.
