H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, met with the employees nominated for the upcoming editions of the Dubai Government Excellence Program, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiative for Government Innovation (Ibdaa), and Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government.

The meeting took place over a breakfast gathering, under the theme “Continuing our strive towards excellence and innovation”. H.E. Ahmed Mahboob expressed his overwhelming joy for being surrounded by a host of exceptional individuals, whose creativity and innovation are a source of pride for Dubai Customs.

The Director of Dubai Customs pointed out that DC’s rightfully-earned awards in previous excellence initiatives and programs reflect employees’ steadfast strive to step up individual and corporate performance.
Musabih called for managers and directors to motivate their staff by maintaining a work environment conducive to innovation and excellence in all work aspects.

Rami Abu Laban, Senior Manager of Corporate Excellence Section at the Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department, spoke at the gathering and said that preparations for the three awards are being proceeded based on a well-defined practical and scientific approach and strategy. Dubai Customs has trained over 115 certified assessors based on the European Excellence Model, 20 certified internal assessors from The Dubai Executive Council and 20 employees have received Excellence Diploma. “Over 50 awareness workshops and 200 preliminary meetings were carried out. An integrated awareness campaign was conducted that included the training of nearly 800 employees on self-assessment at all customs centres,” he added.

At the end of the meeting, award nominees extended their appreciation to the Customs’ senior leadership for nurturing a work environment conducive to innovation and excellence, following the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who always stresses that “Our real assets in the UAE are intellectual resources and human capital. These are the real drivers of wealth and growth”.
