Dont miss the Otter week at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo celebrates World Otter Day which falls on May 29th, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo has dedicated the entire week to everything otter until June 1st celebrating for the furriest aquatic family aiming to create awareness on Otter conservation and measures to protect the vulnerable species.

Dubai Aquarium is home to an aquatic smallest furriest family of Otters. This species of Otters are native to Asia.

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo has introduced an active breeding program playing an active role towards their survival working with conservationists, wildlife organizations, local community and government entities ensuring the protection of Otters.

The Asian Small-clawed Otter is the smallest breed of Otter found in the world that weighs less than 5 kilograms and the smallest of all 13 species. They are carnivorous in nature and live in rivers, marshes, rice patties and feed on fish, insects, snails, etc. Otters are one of the intelligent animals and can easily break open shellfish or pick up rocks. They have a huge appetite and surprisingly can eat up to 20% of their body weight daily.

Visit the special pop-up art exhibition in The Dubai Mall displaying paw-paintings by Dubai Aquariums Otter family. The center of attraction is the fabulous painting of Dubai Aquariums mother and daughter, Ginger and Maxine by wildlife artist, Emma Skinner. The painting is also up for grabs! Also, dont miss the social media competition.

Moreover, ten percent of the proceeds of all Otter Encounter bookings at Dubai Aquarium during 'Otter week' will be donated to the International Otter Survival Fund which is one of the most known and worlds leading Otter charities.
