DEWA main sponsor of Quran Readers

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced its participation as the main sponsor of Qur'an Readers, a group of activities organised by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities (IACAD), under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Famous Qur'an readers from the Arab World will participate in the activities. The best reader will be selected for the performance of Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.

The activities are being held at the Rashidiya Grand Mosque throughout Ramadan, and will gather a group of famous Qur'an readers to perform Ramadan Nights, and celebrate the holy month by worshiping, and conducting spiritual lectures and Qur'an recitations. Qur'an Readers is a popular event in the nation, and brings in a large number of people, who come to perform Taraweeh prayers behind well-known Qur'an readers.

"DEWA adheres to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, based on the instructions of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to unify the efforts of the people of the UAE. Our sponsorship of Qur'an Readers supports DEWA's strategy to serve the community and improve Dubai's position as an international hub of culture and humanitarianism," stated HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

"DEWA is dedicated to upholding its CSR and continuously works to enhance community development. DEWA also supports many spiritual, cultural, and social events that promote tolerance and compassion amongst all sections of society and highlight the concepts of Islam," included Al Tayer.

Activities include awareness lectures for both men and woman, and people and citizens from various communities. The lectures will take place after Taraweeh prayers, with some given in Urdu. Activities will be held inside a tent with a capacity of 2,500 individuals, it is equipped with all the essential centers and services and will serve over 15,000 people throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
