Abu Dhabi launches 'Golden list' for faster entry of food products through ports
Abu Dhabi authorities have introduced the Golden List of Food Products initiative, designed to fast-track the entry of food items with a strong compliance record through the emirate’s border crossings.
The new system allows selected food products to enter the local market directly, reducing waiting times, customs clearance processes, and costs for importers—while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Criteria for inclusion
Companies whose products are listed on the Golden List are granted priority for pre-release clearance after repeatedly demonstrating compliance with standard specifications and approved technical regulations through laboratory tests. To qualify, food products must meet the following requirements:
-
Compliance record: Five consecutive shipments must meet approved standard specifications and technical regulations.
-
Health certification: A valid health certificate approved by the country of origin must be attached.
-
Pre-submission: An import application must be filed via the advanced trade and logistics platform Atlab at least 24 hours before shipment arrival.
-
Simplified inspection: Pre-audit of documents is sufficient, eliminating the need for visual inspection or sampling.
Boosting efficiency and trade
By granting trusted companies streamlined clearance, the Golden List aims to enhance food trade efficiency, improve market supply speed, and reduce logistical costs, all while safeguarding consumer health. The initiative is expected to support Abu Dhabi’s wider vision of becoming a leading hub for safe, efficient, and technology-driven food trade.
