Abu Dhabi, March 8, 2015 The Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award has approved the winners list put forward by the Awards Scientific Committee for its 2014/2015 edition. The Boards annual meeting was headed by HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, joining the boards new members HE Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC); HE Mohamed Ebraheem Al Mahmood, Chairman and Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Media; and HE Mr. Jasem Al Darmaki, Acting Director of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).

In the meeting, the Board also approved the 2015 plan for the cultural activities which will be held in celebration of the Awards tenth Anniversary. HE Sheikh Sultan hailed the Awards impressive success and growth throughout the past nine years since its inception, during which it contributed generously to the promotion and development of Arabic Culture, and extended its reach to other civilizations to help bridge the gap across cultures. HE Sheikh Sultan also noted that the Award will have a fully-fledged program in place for the coming year to further reinforce its international aspirations via participations in book fairs, industry exhibitions as well as the Awards cultural activities.

Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, Secretary General of the Award, presented the main statistical indicators of nominations in the current cycle in addition to showcasing the extensive work done by the reading and judging panels as well as the Scientific Committee to comprehensively review all nominations and subsequent reports. Bin Tamim also elaborated on the progress of the Awards Presentation Ceremony on May 11 during the Abu Dhabi International Book Fairs 25th edition.

The Sheikh Zayed Book Awards Board of Trustees is headed by HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, and includes H.E. Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Head of Abu Dhabi Education Council; Mr. Mohammad Al Mahmoud, Head of Abu Dhabi Media Company; and Mr. Jasem Al Darmaki, Acting Director of TCA Abu Dhabi; HE Mr. Zaki Nusseibeh, TCA Board Member; and Mr. Jumaa Al Qubaisi, Executive Director of The National Library. The Awards Board of Trustees is the highest power in the organisational structure of Sheikh Zayed Book Award. The Board is responsible for setting the general policies of the Award, and determining its organisational structure, in addition to any decision concerning the award categories, determination of awarding winners or withholding any category.
