University of Dubai calls for research driven approach to sustainable development

Effective application of research study is a vital step towards attaining sustainable advancement of the nation, stated Dr. Eesa M. Bastaki, President of University of Dubai. Addressing the annual Ph.D. dinner organised by the university at its new campus in Academic City, Dr. Bastaki requested concentrated efforts to direct research efforts to enhance the nation's position not only at the local level however in the worldwide arena.

The annual Ph.D. supper showcased the University of Dubai's dedication towards providing world-class research-based education in the UAE. Focusing on the directive of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to mark 2016 as the Year of Reading, the event highlighted the importance of research to much better serve the nation, supporting innovation and imagination, and developing development opportunities in a highly competitive environment.

Speaking on the event, Dr. Ananth Rao Director of the Ph.D. Program at University of Dubai, mentioned that commitment to Ph.D. programme must lead to the service of the community.

Dr. Ahmad bin Hassan Al Shaikh, Chairman of Ducab, said the country needs top Ph.D. scientists who can make a distinction beforehand the UAE's program on development and leadership.

University of Dubai is among the few universities in the UAE to get the prestigious AACSB accreditation for its commitment to offering world-class education. The university's new school has a Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, enabling research study to include innovation and creativity.

The University of Dubai Ph.D. programme is developed to fulfill the country's objectives on boosted economic development. The Ph.D. programme provided by University of Dubai aims to serve individuals' needs and mould the future in alignment with the vision of the UAE leadership.
