UAE Forecasts Rain Through August 6 as Unstable Weather Continues Across Gulf

Unstable weather conditions are expected to persist across several Gulf countries this week, with the UAE forecasting rainfall through August 6, while Saudi Arabia and Oman continue to issue warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain in multiple regions.

According to the UAE's National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the country will remain under the influence of an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the east, combined with a weak upper-air low-pressure system, creating favourable conditions for cloud formation and rainfall.

Rain Expected Across Parts of the UAE

The NCM said convective clouds are likely to develop over parts of the UAE between August 2 and August 6, bringing the possibility of showers in several areas.

The forecast follows rainfall recorded in Masafi, Fujairah, where videos shared by the Storm Centre showed heavy rain on Sunday.

Meteorologist Ahmed Habib of the NCM recently said that the ongoing El Niño climate pattern may be contributing to the unusual summer rainfall experienced across the UAE.

Despite the rain forecast, temperatures remain extremely high. On August 1, the temperature reached 50°C in Al Shawamekh, Abu Dhabi, highlighting the coexistence of intense heat and convective weather conditions during the summer season.

Saudi Arabia Warns of Thunderstorms

Saudi Arabia's National Center for Meteorology has forecast continued thunderstorms across several regions through the end of the week.

The affected areas include:

• Asir
• Jazan
• Al Baha
• The Makkah highlands
• Najran

The authority has urged residents to monitor official weather updates and follow alerts issued through its website, the Anwaa mobile application and official social media platforms.

Heavy Rain to Continue in Oman

Oman's meteorological authorities have also warned that heavy thunderstorms are expected to continue over the Hajar Mountains.

Rain-bearing clouds are forecast to extend into parts of:

• North Al Sharqiyah
• South Al Sharqiyah
• Al Dhahirah Governorate

Authorities said cumulonimbus clouds are expected to bring scattered rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds, with weather activity likely to expand into additional areas as the week progresses.

Meteorological agencies across the Gulf are advising residents to stay informed through official weather bulletins, particularly in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms.

The latest forecasts indicate that unsettled weather is likely to remain a feature across parts of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman for several more days, despite the peak of the summer season.
