Paid parking introduced around schools in Al Ain to ease congestion

A new paid parking system has been rolled out around several schools in Al Ain to address traffic congestion and enhance student safety, Q Mobility announced on Tuesday.

The initiative covers 4,671 parking spaces across key streets within three main sectors of the Schools’ Zone in Falaj Hazza. The move comes in response to longstanding concerns over traffic bottlenecks, illegal parking, and reduced visibility near school entrances during peak hours.

Enhancing safety and flow

According to Q Mobility, the system is designed to improve overall traffic management in school zones, particularly during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups. By discouraging random parking in non-designated areas, the initiative is expected to create safer conditions for students and smoother vehicle movement.

The Schools’ Zone in Al Ain has historically struggled with traffic challenges, including motorists parking in restricted spaces. Officials noted that paid parking would not only organize vehicle flow but also reduce congestion on surrounding roads.

Wider transport improvements

The measure is part of broader efforts across the emirate to strengthen mobility infrastructure and improve road safety standards. Paid parking systems have previously been introduced in other high-density areas in Abu Dhabi, contributing to better regulation and efficient use of available spaces.

Q Mobility said that regular monitoring will be carried out to ensure compliance and support long-term improvements in traffic safety.
