Our Summer is Arts & Culture: Dubai Public Library rolls out childrens development programme for summer

The Dubai Public Library, owned and managed by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirates dedicated Authority for culture, arts, and heritage, is rolling out a summer programme that contributes to the all-round development of children between the ages of 6 to 12 years.

Held under the theme Our Summer is Arts & Culture, the annual Dubai Public Library summer programme for childrens development, to be held from 3 to 28 August, 2014, will provide an opportunity for children to nurture their skills.

The participating children can strengthen their social skills and develop their personalities through an array of workshops and sessions, while enabling them to use their summer productively.

The Our Summer is Arts & Culture programme will be held in Al Twar Public Library, Al Mankhool Public Library, Hatta Public Library, Al Rashidya Public Library, and Al Safa Public Library. This year, the programme focuses on communication skills; managing finances; robotic technology; and arts and craft. Details on the weekly schedules will be announced in due course.

Abdulrahman Ibrahim, Head of Dubai Public Library, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: Social skills are imperative for young children to grow into well-rounded adults. Through the Our Summer is Arts & Culture programme, we will highlight the importance of theoretical and practical training that will equip children with the skills they will need in the future.

The programme is open to members for AED 400 and AED 600 for non-members. Interested participants can register from July 17, 2014 by visiting the Dubai Public Library participating branches. For more information please contact: AlMankhool.clib@dubaiculture.ae or call 04 5155202 or 04 5155282.
