Nobel Exhibition 2018: Workshops Shed Light on Breakthroughs and Milestones in Chemistry

Major breakthroughs made by famous chemists and Nobel laureates take centre-stage in a series of workshops at the fourth Nobel Exhibition occurring in Dubai's City Walk from February 4 till March 3, 2018.

Arranged by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) - member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Efforts - the 2018 edition of the exhibit bears the theme Nobel Prize in Chemistry - Connecting Elements. The workshops drew large crowds of students from schools and universities throughout Dubai, along with chemistry experts and academics, to take part in the discussions, which highlighted the payments of chemistry to human life, and the role it plays in addressing key challenges and in the growth and development of the medical area.

MBRF's Chief Executive Officer His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb said: "The Nobel Exhibition2018 enables us to showcase the inspiring experiences of famous Arab and global researchers, promote creative thinking and innovation amongst students and visitors, and demonstrate the terrific role chemistry plays in individuals's lives. This, certainly, is the main purpose from all our tasks at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, where we strive to create and promote knowledge across various techniques in an initiative to encourage all segments of society.

One of the most remarkable workshops on the agenda, entitled Ahmed Zewail: Journey to Nobel and Realizing his Dream; Zewail City of Science and Technology clarifies the Zewail City of Scientific Research and Innovation, conceived by world-renowned Egyptian drug store the late Ahmed Zewail, Nobel Reward in Chemistry 1999 laureate. Provided by Professor Ibrahim El-Sherbiny, Zewail City's Director of the Centre for Product Science & Director of the Nanoscience Programme, and Mohamed Al-Kordi, Associate Teacher at the establishment, the workshop provides the vision and mission of the city, the sophisticated research study and academic programs it provides, and the function it will certainly play in sparking a new era of clinical advancement across the entire Arab region.

In a workshop entitled The Cryogenic Electron Microscopy, Lund University's Professor Viveka Alfredsson discovers Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), which has actually been an indispensable method for clarifying the structure of products. With time, the method has created to enable increasingly sophisticated studies to be carried out. The session sheds light on the achievements of German-born American biophysicist Joachim Frank, Scottish molecular biologist and biophysicist Richard Henderson, and Swiss researcher Jacques Dubochet, that with each other won the Nobel Reward in Chemistry 2017 for their deal with single-particle cryo-electron microscopy.

MBRF additionally organised a workshop on February 18, entitled How to Get the Nobel Prize and provided by Gustav Kllstrand, Nobel Prize Chronicler, and Anna Sjstrm Douagi, Head of Programmes at the Nobel Centre. An extra workshop will certainly be held on February 25, birthing the title How to select a Nobel Laureate (in Chemistry) and including Professor Sven Lidin, previous member of the Nobel Committee of Chemistry.

The workshops are held at the Nobel Exhibit 2018 website in Dubai's City Walk and are open to the general public for free
