MoHESR grants automatic recognition for degrees issued by 34 UAE-based universities

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has announced that 34 UAE-based higher education institutions (HEIs) have joined the first phase of its automatic degree recognition initiative, marking a major step toward streamlining services and enhancing the student journey.

Under the initiative, graduates from participating institutions now receive immediate recognition of their degrees without the need for additional applications or procedures. The move supports the UAE’s zero government bureaucracy agenda by accelerating processes and improving efficiency across the national higher education system.

Since its launch, more than 25,000 graduates have already benefited from the service. MoHESR confirmed that the initiative will be expanded to include Emirati students studying abroad under Ministry-supervised scholarships, allowing them to access government services seamlessly from anywhere in the world.

The automatic recognition system is designed to help graduates transition more quickly into postgraduate education or employment. It also enables them to meet government, residency, and visa requirements without undergoing separate qualification recognition processes, strengthening their readiness for the next stage of their academic or professional careers.

His Excellency Ahmad Yousuf Al Nasser, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education Operations Sector at MoHESR, said that linking 34 HEIs in the first phase reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the national recognition framework through efficient and flexible services. He added that the Ministry will continue expanding the network of institutions covered by automatic recognition as part of a broader, digitally driven system aligned with labour market and societal needs.

The initiative forms part of MoHESR’s qualification recognition services for UAE-based institutions. Degrees issued by Ministry-accredited HEIs can be verified through an approved QR code, which officially confirms recognition in line with established regulations and procedures.

In addition, MoHESR provides a range of electronic tools to support qualification recognition, including digital verification of Ministry-issued recognition and electronic reports for qualifications obtained outside the UAE. These services aim to ensure data reliability while making verification simpler and more accessible for relevant authorities.
