MBRF Showcases Knowledge Initiatives at Frankfurt Book Fair 2025
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) highlighted its flagship programs and global initiatives at the Frankfurt International Book Fair 2025, reaffirming its pivotal role in advancing knowledge, creativity, and cultural exchange worldwide.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, emphasized that the Foundation’s participation underscores its mission to promote the Emirati knowledge ecosystem globally and to support the UAE’s vision for a sustainable knowledge economy.
“Our participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair reflects the international community’s confidence in MBRF’s pioneering model for knowledge transfer and innovation. The significant engagement from global visitors motivates us to strengthen partnerships and accelerate the transition toward a thriving, knowledge-based society,” H.E. said.
Expanding Global Partnerships and Translation Efforts
During the event, H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb met with H.E. Yousuf Al-Hayaie, Consul General of the UAE in Munich, and leading international publishing figures including Jacks Thomas, Director of the Bologna Book Fair, and Emma Lowe, Director of the London Book Fair, to discuss future collaboration opportunities and strengthen ties with global publishing networks.
MBRF also announced that the translation of “The Legacy of Muslim Sicily” encyclopedia into German is underway, with future plans for translation into French and other languages. The work serves as a key academic reference exploring Sicily’s historical connections with the Arab world and Islamic civilization.
Cultural Dialogue through the Dubai International Program for Writing
As part of its participation, MBRF organized a series of sessions under the Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW), covering topics in translation, literature, and cultural exchange.

“I Translate: Personal Experiences in Translating into Arabic”

“Has the Era of Scientific Translation Ended? What Do We Translate and for Whom?”

A special talk by Dr. Barbara Michalak-Pikulska, a renowned Polish Arabist, titled “My Journey with Translation from Arabic to Polish.”
The program also introduced a new Arabic-German Translation Workshop aimed at enhancing the visibility of Arabic literature in German-speaking markets.
Knowledge Lounge and Digital Platforms Drive Engagement
MBRF’s Knowledge Lounge hosted two insightful panels:

“Emirati Literature: Between Heritage and Innovation” — highlighting the evolution of Emirati storytelling traditions.

“Literary Editing: The Invisible Partner in Publishing” — discussing the critical role of editors in shaping quality literature.
Additionally, the KnowTalks initiative featured sessions on emerging topics such as AI in life sciences and future literacy, reflecting MBRF’s focus on advancing intellectual dialogue and foresight-driven education.
The Foundation’s Digital Knowledge Hub (DKH) also unveiled the latest updates to its digital platform and hosted discussions on academic publishing trends and digital knowledge dissemination.
Through its vibrant participation at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025, MBRF reaffirmed its role as a global leader in knowledge exchange and cultural innovation, championing the UAE’s mission to build an inclusive, future-oriented knowledge society.
