LG grows Middle East B2G business with new agreement with Expo City Dubai

LG Electronics (LG) is strengthening its position as a sustainable solutions provider in the Middle East with a new strategic partnership signed with Expo City Dubai. The agreement, endorsed by Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer at Expo City Dubai, and William Cho, President of LG Electronics, marks a major step in LG’s expansion across regional B2G sectors.

The partnership builds on LG’s long-standing relationship with Expo City Dubai, the legacy site of Expo 2020. LG previously supplied LED signage for the global event and later committed to equipping 3,000 smart city homes with built-in appliances, including refrigerators, ovens and dishwashers.

Under the new agreement, LG will deploy its advanced integrated technologies to support the UAE’s We the UAE 2031 vision, which focuses on creating sustainable, AI-enabled, low-carbon cities. The company’s planned contributions include AI-powered data center cooling systems, smart home solutions through the AI Home Hub platform and robotics-based manufacturing systems.

Beyond product supply, LG will act as a key partner in supporting the UAE’s smart city development plans, carbon-neutrality goals and energy-efficient infrastructure upgrades. The company also intends to prioritise product supply for new residential developments within Expo City Dubai and contribute smart home platforms and high-efficiency HVAC solutions for upcoming infrastructure expansions.

The partnership follows discussions during the Korea–UAE Business Roundtable held in Abu Dhabi on 19 November, where both governments agreed to deepen cooperation in AI-powered services and infrastructure.

LG is increasingly recognised not only for its consumer electronics but also for its expanding role in the sustainable solutions and B2G sectors. The company will also collaborate with Schneider Electric to co-develop integrated technologies that enhance energy management, automation and digitalisation in smart living environments.

“We are committed to contributing to sustainable growth in the Middle East,” said William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics. “With our advanced technologies and smart home solutions, we will accelerate efforts to capture new B2B and B2G opportunities based on each country’s future direction.”

Expanding footprint in the UAE and Saudi Arabia

LG continues to strengthen its presence in major regional markets. In September, the company entered a strategic collaboration to support the construction of an AI data center in Oxagon, part of Saudi Arabia’s NEOM gigaproject. It also signed an MoU with ACWA Power, SHAKER Group and DATAVOLT to become a strategic partner providing cooling solutions for DATAVOLT’s next-generation data centers.

LG has operated in the UAE for 30 years, overseeing 75 markets across the Middle East and Africa from its regional headquarters. In Saudi Arabia, LG’s strong presence is supported by a long-term partnership with SHAKER Group dating back to 1995, including the establishment of a joint AC manufacturing venture in 2006. With increasing participation in large-scale, government-driven projects, LG aims to grow its B2B business to account for approximately 45% of its total global revenue by 2030.
