King Saud University and Huawei unveil strategic partnership at AI Education Summit 2025

King Saud University (KSU) unveiled a major strategic partnership with Huawei during the AI Education Summit 2025, held at KSU Dariyah Hall. The summit brought together leading education and technology stakeholders to accelerate intelligent transformation, enhance teaching and learning, and advance research innovation across Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

During the event, KSU announced the inauguration of the KSU–Huawei Innovation Lab, a cutting-edge research and co-development facility focused on next-generation networking, ICT solutions, and scenario-based applications for higher education. The lab further strengthens the university’s long-standing partnership with Huawei, which has already supported the development of KSU’s advanced campus network using Huawei’s latest technologies.

The Innovation Lab will serve as a shared hub for testing, adapting, and deploying intelligent solutions across university campuses. It will support the development of smart campus technologies, secure cloud services, research acceleration tools, and digital platforms designed to improve student outcomes and operational efficiency. The collaboration aims to position KSU as a leading model of digital transformation in higher education.

More than 100 representatives from the Ministry of Education, university CIOs, IT leaders, educators, and technology partners attended the Summit. Participants engaged in live demonstrations showcasing intelligent campus operations on 10G networks, next-generation smart classrooms, meeting solutions, research computing for high-performance data analytics (HPDA), and ICT talent development programs.

Alongside the Innovation Lab announcement, the Summit also saw the launch of the ICT Talent Training Program, designed to cultivate advanced digital skills and rapidly upskill the national workforce. In addition, the release of the Autonomous Network & WiFi 7 Advanced Technology White Paper offered strategic insights and performance benchmarks for building next-generation campus network architectures.

KSU’s digital advancement is supported by Huawei’s 10G High-Quality Campus Network solution, which is expected to enhance learning experiences, improve research output, and boost operational efficiency. The new partnership will allow KSU and Huawei to co-develop intelligent applications and digital tools tailored to real institutional needs, with plans to replicate successful models across Saudi universities.

“We are proud to deepen our collaboration with KSU to accelerate the intelligent transformation of education,” said Trevor Liu, Huawei Saudi CEO. “Together, we are creating scenario-based solutions tailored for universities and showcasing intelligent applications for a wider range of industry partners. This partnership underscores Huawei’s ongoing commitment to secure, reliable, and high-quality digital infrastructure.”

The collaboration supports key national goals under the Human Capability Development Program and the National Strategy for Data and AI, both part of Saudi Vision 2030. By enhancing digital capabilities and fostering innovation, the KSU–Huawei initiative aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s knowledge economy and prepare future generations for an increasingly intelligent, technology-driven world.
