IFZA establishes global advisory board to support international expansion and governance

IFZA, a global free zones network specialising in company formation and business growth, has announced the establishment of its Global Advisory Board, marking a significant step in its strategy to strengthen international expansion, reinforce governance, and enhance its role as a global business enabler.

The newly formed Advisory Board brings together senior leaders from business and public policy to provide strategic guidance, international expertise, and access to influential global networks. The board will support IFZA’s long-term vision, particularly as the organisation accelerates growth across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

The initiative reflects IFZA’s ambition to redefine the traditional free zone model by evolving beyond a physical location into a connected, borderless ecosystem that enables businesses to scale seamlessly across markets. Through this approach, IFZA aims to bridge established and emerging economies, attract foreign direct investment, and support entrepreneurship in high-growth regions worldwide.

The Global Advisory Board comprises a diverse group of leaders with expertise spanning international business, public policy, economic development, and SME advocacy. Members include Martin G. Pedersen, Chairman of IFZA and a UAE-based entrepreneur with extensive experience in global expansion initiatives; Jochen Knecht, Group CEO of IFZA, known for his work in ecosystem development and digital transformation; Gerhard Schröder, former Chancellor of Germany, bringing decades of experience in economic diplomacy and international relations; Christian Kern, former Federal Chancellor of Austria, with deep knowledge of infrastructure, innovation, and economic policy; and Senator (a.D.) Christoph Ahlhaus, Chairman of the Federal Executive Board of Der Mittelstand. BVMW e.V. and President of the European SME Association, a prominent advocate for small and medium-sized enterprises in Europe.

Commenting on the announcement, Martin G. Pedersen said the creation of the Advisory Board represents a defining milestone in IFZA’s growth journey. He noted that the board’s collective expertise and global perspective will support the organisation’s next phase of expansion while reinforcing its position as a trusted international hub for business.

Gerhard Schröder highlighted the importance of cooperation and stability in today’s global economy, adding that IFZA’s approach to enabling international entrepreneurship reflects a strong commitment to trust, clarity, and long-term vision.

The Advisory Board will serve as a strategic resource for IFZA’s leadership, offering counsel on emerging opportunities and risks, insights into global business and trade trends, access to international partnerships, and guidance on long-term strategic initiatives. The board is expected to convene two to three times per year, with additional sessions held as required on priority topics.

The establishment of the Global Advisory Board underscores IFZA’s commitment to strengthening its international footprint and building a fully connected, globally recognised free zone ecosystem. As IFZA continues to expand across Asia, the Middle East, the Americas, and other markets, the board’s insights will play a key role in shaping its future growth and global collaboration strategy.
