Hong Kong Positions Itself as a Top Destination for GCC Tourists with Saudi Super Cup and CR7® LIFE Museum Opening
Hong Kong is poised to become a central hub for sports and travel enthusiasts from the Gulf region this August, as it prepares to host the Saudi Super Cup for the first time in Asia. Scheduled from 19 to 23 August 2025, the event marks a significant milestone for both Saudi football and Hong Kong’s strategic tourism goals. Complementing this sporting spectacle is the grand opening of the Cristiano Ronaldo CR7® LIFE Museum, which adds a cultural and entertainment dimension to the visit for Saudi and GCC nationals.
The CR7® LIFE Museum, which opened in Hong Kong last month, has already attracted thousands of visitors. The immersive experience offers fans a detailed look at Ronaldo's iconic career—from his early days in Madeira to his global status as one of the greatest footballers of all time. The museum further underscores Hong Kong’s efforts to blend culture and sport to enhance its global tourism appeal.
The Saudi Super Cup will bring together four of Saudi Arabia’s top football clubs in a championship that aligns with the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to promote its football league on a global stage. Among the headline attractions is Cristiano Ronaldo, who is expected to play with Al-Nassr FC, promising a spectacle that will draw football lovers from across the Middle East.
Hong Kong’s hosting of this championship reflects a deeper strategy to attract more tourists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, particularly Saudi Arabia. It’s not just about football—this initiative is part of a larger effort to establish Hong Kong as a leading destination for sports tourism, while also strengthening economic and cultural ties with Gulf countries.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board is actively working to ensure that Gulf visitors enjoy a comfortable and welcoming stay. A dedicated listing of Halal-certified and Halal-friendly restaurants has been curated to meet the needs of Muslim travelers. In addition to the Saudi Super Cup and the CR7 Museum, visitors can enjoy Hong Kong’s vast array of theme parks, family attractions, luxury shopping, and world-renowned culinary experiences.
The back-to-back highlights of the Saudi Super Cup and the CR7® LIFE Museum are expected to position Hong Kong as an unmissable travel destination for GCC nationals this month, making August a key chapter in the city's international tourism calendar.
