On the occasion of Union Pledge Day, Her Excellency Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Family Development Foundation, delivered a powerful statement underscoring the UAE’s remarkable journey of growth, the enduring legacy of its founders, and the unyielding spirit of national unity and sacrifice.

Her Excellency emphasized that the UAE stands today as a world-class model of excellence, leading across a range of fields thanks to the visionary leadership and its long-standing investment in human capital, innovation, and sustainability. She linked the nation’s success to the principles laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his fellow founders, who envisioned a country built on unity, resilience, and forward-thinking.

“On this momentous occasion, let us reaffirm our commitment to the noble principles upon which this great nation was founded, emphasising our loyalty to the wise leadership and this nation which knows no retreat and is hard-wired to lead,” said H.E. Al Rumaithi.

“Let us also recall the timeless legacy of the founders and the spirit of sacrifice, through which we harness the resilience to strive towards an ambitious future vision.”

She described Union Pledge Day as not just a celebration, but a call to action for every Emirati to build upon past achievements and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future. Her Excellency noted that the UAE has successfully positioned itself as a regional and global hub for decision-making and positive impact, driven by a clear national agenda focused on progress, innovation, and human dignity.

“Union Pledge Day is a remarkable milestone in the nation’s rich legacy, a source of inspiration for generations to come, and an opportunity to reconnect with the founding values. It serves as an occasion to renew our dedication to national development, ushering in a prosperous tomorrow built on the values of charity, hard work, and unity.”

H.E. Al Rumaithi also highlighted the UAE’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian values, particularly its emphasis on strengthening family cohesion and empowering key societal groups, including senior citizens. She noted that families remain at the heart of the UAE’s sustainable development journey, with senior citizens symbolizing wisdom and continuity.

Through ongoing qualitative initiatives and inclusive policies, the Family Development Foundation — along with national institutions — continues to promote social cohesion, dignity, and loyalty, ensuring the spirit of the union is reflected in every achievement.
