HBMSU Concludes Run & Ride Competition as Part of Tomorrow Run & Ride Event

Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) has successfully concluded the “Run & Ride Competition,” held under the patronage of Dubai Duty Free and supported by Dubai Sports as part of the fourth edition of the “Tomorrow Run & Ride” event. The initiative formed a key component of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2025, launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and President of HBMSU, to foster a culture of fitness and active living across the community.

Hosted at HBMSU’s campus in Dubai Academic City, the event drew widespread participation from families, children, and sports enthusiasts, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. Participants from various age groups took part in a range of activities designed to encourage athletic engagement and community wellbeing.

This year’s competition featured an 18-kilometer duathlon for men and women across two age groups: 16–25 and 26–45 years. Additional activities under the Tomorrow Run & Ride programme included a 4-kilometer fun run, a cycling race for children under 12, and a 14-kilometer cycling challenge.

Winners were recognized with medals, trophies, cash prizes, and sports gifts. Results were as follows:

  • Category One:
    1st – Sultan Jamal
    2nd – Abdullah Al Ali
    3rd – Sultan Mubarak

  • Category Two:
    1st – Mohamed Nour Al Din
    2nd – Momen Nasr
    3rd – Lee Eaaon

Ramesh Cidambi, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, expressed pride in supporting the event, noting the strong community engagement and participation from Dubai Duty Free staff. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the organization’s values of wellbeing, collaboration, and positive community involvement, while reinforcing Dubai’s vision of a more active and health-focused society.

H.E. Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of HBMSU, highlighted that the success of the event reflects the University’s commitment to integrating smart learning with community health and quality of life. He underscored the importance of building an inclusive community that connects knowledge, wellbeing, and happiness. Dr. Al Awar also extended appreciation to the event’s partners, including Dubai Sports, Dubai Duty Free, Al-Futtaim Health, and Union Coop, for their continued support in advancing Dubai’s wellbeing objectives.

The Tomorrow Run & Ride event stands as one of HBMSU’s key annual community initiatives, aimed at promoting sports as a lifestyle and strengthening social responsibility. The programme aligns with the University’s vision of fostering a balanced, innovative, and healthy community.
