GEMS Student Honored as Creative Innovator at the Global Innovation Summit

Arjun Bhorkar, grade 11 student at The Millennium School, Dubai was honored the prestigious Creative Pioneer Award for Healthcare at the Global Innovation Summit held recently in Dubai.

With 15,000 event attendees, the Global Innovation Summit supplies a knowledge-sharing platform, bringing together key stakeholders and industry specialists to share best techniques and success stories.

Winning the award under the Best Innovation for Healthcare category, Arjun Bhorkar's submission was Aura - a wearable tool created in order to help individuals with autism.

The device is meant to have a Radio-frequency identification(RFID) visitor that as soon as scanned over a things, plays a tutorial video that works as a guide demonstrating how to carry out the activity - everything from opening up a door to operating a washing machine.

Arjun says he was influenced to find up with this suggestion after doing volunteer working from the Manzil Centre in Sharjah and believes autistic peopleare equally capable as everybody else, and could become skillful through practice.

The Creative Innovator Awards are distributed throughout 6 groups according to Dubai's Strategic Objectives - Innovation in Education, Healthcare, Retail, Business Growth, Sustainability and Public Good. The winners are provided complete incubation assistance via advancement of the project.
