MBRF and Bibliotheca Alexandrina Sign Landmark MoU to Boost Knowledge Accessibility, Especially for People of Determination
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) in Egypt, aiming to enhance knowledge accessibility and foster inclusive educational content, particularly for people of determination. This strategic collaboration reflects MBRF’s unwavering commitment to promoting knowledge-based societies across the Arab world and beyond.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, and Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of BA, during a ceremony where both institutions reaffirmed their dedication to advancing Arab intellectual and cultural development.
At the heart of the agreement is a joint initiative to produce digital talking books in DAISY format—a specialized audio format that significantly improves accessibility for individuals with visual impairments. The MoU also outlines cooperation in the areas of training programs, library science expertise exchange, and the co-organization of innovative knowledge and cultural events.
“Our collaboration with the prestigious and historic Bibliotheca Alexandrina marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to position knowledge as a catalyst for sustainable development in the Arab region,” said H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb. “This partnership is rooted in our belief that inclusive and strategic knowledge alliances can empower communities and create lasting impact, especially for individuals requiring specialized support.”
Dr. Ahmed Zayed added, “This MoU aligns with Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s commitment to making intellectual and innovative resources available to everyone in the Arab world. We are confident that this partnership will result in groundbreaking initiatives that not only spread knowledge but also promote social equity.”
The collaboration is expected to lead to the development of accessible digital content, capacity-building initiatives, and joint scientific and cultural projects that strengthen the social and intellectual fabric of the Arab region. By focusing on inclusivity, the MBRF and BA aim to set a regional example of how institutional cooperation can drive knowledge equity, economic resilience, and sustainable progress.
Through this agreement, both entities solidify their roles as influential advocates for accessible knowledge and contributors to the Arab world’s journey toward an inclusive, innovation-driven future.
