ENOC hosts breast cancer awareness day in partnership with Pink Caravan

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to promote wellness and good health among all members of the community, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) organised a breast cancer awareness day on the 29th of October in partnership with Pink Caravan.

A pan-UAE breast cancer awareness initiative launched by the Friends of Cancer Patients, a charitable organisation, Pink Caravan will organise a series of breast cancer awareness activities for ENOC employees.

Experts from Pink Caravan will lead a workshop followed by free medical check-up to drive early screening for breast cancer. ENOC will also distribute flyers highlighting the importance of early screening for breast cancer across the ENOC/EPPCO service station network.

Saif Al Falasi, Executive Director - EHSQ & Corporate Affairs of ENOC, said: “The breast cancer awareness day organised by ENOC complements the concerted efforts globally and in the region to underline the importance of early screening to identify breast cancer.

“With breast cancer incidence on the rise, it is imperative that awareness campaigns must be intensified to promote early detection, which will enable better treatment. We are thankful to the support of Pink Caravan for the important initiative that aims at the welfare of our employees and the community.

“The initiative by ENOC to promote breast cancer awareness among its employees and the public is extremely laudable. The greater we work together to highlight the need for early screening, the more the chances we have to address the rising incidence of breast cancer in the region. We will provide a comprehensive overview of breast cancer, its diagnosis and treatment through our workshop for ENOC employees.”

A novel and unique initiative, the Pink Caravan has garnered widespread recognition locally, regionally, and internationally. To date the Pink Caravan Ride has travelled over 900 km across the seven emirates, with over 250 riders and 200 volunteers helping to ensure its success.

To ensure that employees enjoy working conditions where they can develop and fulfil their personal potential, ENOC has established various workplace CSR programmes. One such activity is the ENOC Wellness & Social Programme set up to foster a sense of belonging within the ENOC family and promote social interaction outside the office.

Over the years, ENOC has demonstrated its thought leadership in undertaking innovative CSR initiatives and has won Asia’s top laurel for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practices at the Asian Leadership Awards; and The Bizz Award, one of the most prestigious business awards world-wide, for outstanding corporate social responsibility practices.
