Emirates Post Issues Commemorative Stamp Celebrating 20 Years of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood
Emirates Post has unveiled a special commemorative stamp in partnership with the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood to mark the Council’s 20th anniversary. This initiative celebrates two decades of unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare and rights of mothers and children across the UAE.
Founded in 2003 by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood has played a critical role in shaping national policies and programs for maternal and child welfare. Under the esteemed leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak—Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation—the Council has grown into a cornerstone of the UAE’s social development framework.
The commemorative stamp not only honors the Council’s foundational contributions but also symbolizes the nation’s ongoing efforts to empower two of society’s most vital pillars—mothers and children. The stamp's design features the date July 30, the day the Council’s formation was decreed in the UAE’s Official Gazette, and an image of its newly inaugurated headquarters, which stands as a visual testament to its enduring legacy and architectural distinction.
Her Excellency Rym Abdullah Al Falasy, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, emphasized that the Council’s successes over the past 20 years are a result of the vision and guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. “Her Highness has closely supervised the Council’s progress, creating a nurturing environment that has transformed maternal and child care into one of the nation’s top priorities,” Al Falasy said.
She added that these efforts have led to the creation of world-class services and opportunities that rival those in the most developed countries. “Mothers and children are now at the heart of the UAE’s sustainable development journey and are active contributors to its bright future,” she noted.
The release of this stamp is also seen as a tribute to the Council’s initiatives that align with the UAE’s strategic vision—placing the well-being, happiness, and quality of life of its people at the core of national progress.
Tariq Al Wahedi, Group CEO of 7X, praised Emirates Post for its role in preserving the UAE’s cultural and social achievements. “Postal stamps are more than just postage—they are historical markers that narrate the evolution of a nation. This stamp not only honors the Council’s legacy but also highlights the UAE’s global reputation as a leader in social welfare and sustainable development.”
The collaboration between Emirates Post and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood reflects a shared dedication to preserving national heritage while championing innovation and inclusivity. Through this symbolic gesture, the UAE continues to recognize the central role of mothers and children in building a vibrant and resilient society.
