ECI Champions Skilled Talent as Catalyst for UAE’s Export Growth and Economic Diversification

Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI), the UAE’s federal export credit company, has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering skilled human capital as a strategic driver of the nation's export growth, economic diversification, and long-term sustainability. ECI emphasized that attracting and retaining top-tier professionals—both Emirati and global—is crucial to advancing the country’s non-oil trade ambitions and supporting the UAE’s broader economic transformation.

Speaking on the role of human resources in national development, Her Excellency Raja Al Mazrouei, CEO of ECI, highlighted the UAE’s forward-looking approach to talent development:

“The UAE is committed to implementing policies that prioritize human creativity and investment in people. Through extensive educational and training initiatives, we empower Emirati youth while also creating a competitive environment that welcomes foreign expertise. At ECI, we align with this national vision by integrating top talent into our workforce to drive innovation and operational excellence.”

ECI’s efforts are closely tied to the UAE’s ambition of building a diverse, knowledge-based economy, where export growth plays a pivotal role. As part of this mission, ECI is actively investing in talent acquisition, leadership development, and Emiratisation—ensuring that Emiratis are equipped to lead in key areas of economic activity, particularly in export and trade sectors.

H.E. Al Mazrouei added:

“The integration of multidisciplinary experts into ECI strengthens our operational capabilities and positions us as a key enabler in the export insurance sector. We remain dedicated to developing a dynamic workforce that reflects the UAE’s values of inclusivity, innovation, and global competitiveness.”

Strengthening Leadership with Emirati Expertise

Demonstrating its commitment to cultivating national talent, ECI recently appointed three distinguished Emirati professionals to its leadership team:

  • Mohammed Jamal Tahlak – Director of Corporate Support

  • Mohammad Sulaiman – Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)

  • Hamad Al Omran – Head of Strategy & PMO

These appointments are part of ECI’s long-term Emiratisation strategy, which has resulted in Emiratis holding approximately 71% of senior managerial positions within the organisation. The initiative not only empowers UAE nationals but also ensures the continuity of skilled leadership that aligns with national economic priorities.

A Human-Centric Vision for Sustainable Development

As a key player in the UAE’s economic ecosystem, ECI continues to enhance its talent-driven initiatives to support export insurance and credit solutions that enable UAE businesses to expand globally. By embedding innovation and human expertise into its operational model, ECI contributes directly to the national goals of economic resilience, trade competitiveness, and non-oil sector growth.

Through this strong focus on talent, ECI remains a strategic pillar in the UAE’s journey toward becoming a globally competitive, sustainable economy led by knowledge, innovation, and empowered human capital.
