SIG enters new product category with camel milk launch in aseptic cartons
Packaging solutions provider SIG has entered a new product category with the launch of camel milk in aseptic cartons, marking a first for the company in this specialised dairy segment. The newly introduced NOUG Camel UHT Milk, produced by Sawani, part of MILAF Global Food Company, is manufactured and co-packaged in Saudi Arabia by United National Dairy Co.
The launch represents the first time SIG’s aseptic packaging technology has been used for camel milk, a product deeply rooted in Saudi heritage and increasingly popular among modern, health-conscious consumers. Traditionally valued for its nutritional properties and perceived immunity-related benefits, camel milk is gaining traction as a premium dairy offering across the Middle East.
By enabling local production and packaging, SIG is supporting brand owners and co-packers in bringing differentiated dairy products to market while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality and extended shelf life. The NOUG Camel UHT Milk is packaged in SIG MiniBloc cartons in a 125ml format, designed for convenient, on-the-go consumption and suitable for consumers of all ages, including children. The aseptic packaging allows the product to be stored without refrigeration, supporting wider distribution across multiple retail and food service channels.
The launch forms part of a broader agreement backed by Saudi institutional investment, reinforcing the Kingdom’s strategic focus on local food production, food security and the development of national dairy capabilities.
Mr Abdelghany Eladib, President and General Manager for India, the Middle East and Africa at SIG, said the project represents a significant milestone for the company. He noted that the initiative demonstrates SIG’s ability to apply aseptic technology to non-conventional dairy applications, while supporting customers in converting existing volumes to carton packaging and strengthening local supply chains in Saudi Arabia.
MILAF Global Food Company’s Managing Director, Mr Bander Alqahtani, said camel milk remains an essential part of Saudi heritage, adding that the NOUG brand aims to reintroduce the product in a format suited to modern family lifestyles. Mr Maher Eldaly, CEO of Sawani, added that the launch reflects the company’s ambition to make high-quality camel milk more accessible through convenient, child-friendly portions for consumers across the Kingdom and beyond.
From a production perspective, camel milk requires specialised processing and strict quality controls. Mr Abdullah AlSaleh, CEO of United National Dairy Co., said SIG’s aseptic technology enables efficient co-packing while preserving product integrity and meeting the standards expected of a premium dairy offering.
The project highlights close collaboration across the value chain, combining Saudi-based production, institutional backing and advanced packaging technology. Working with Sawani as the principal brand and United National Dairy Co. as the co-packer, SIG supported the journey from concept development to commercial production, creating a scalable platform for national distribution.
Through this category entry, SIG has reinforced its ability to adapt aseptic technology to specialised dairy products, support premium and family-oriented innovation, and strengthen locally produced and packaged food solutions. The camel milk launch establishes a foundation for future growth in specialised dairy and adjacent food segments.
