Dubai Malls Introduce Barrierless Parking with Dh150 Fine for Late Payment
Two of Dubai’s most popular malls — City Centre Deira and soon Mall of the Emirates (MOE) — are rolling out a barrierless parking system that automatically tracks vehicles using licence plate recognition technology.
The new system is already live at City Centre Deira and will launch at MOE in early February, according to Majid Al Futtaim.
How It Works
-
No parking barriers or ticket machines — cars enter and exit freely.
-
Cameras capture licence plates on entry and exit.
-
An SMS payment link is sent to the driver.
-
Payment must be made within three days.
Penalties
-
Dh150 fine if the parking fee is unpaid after three days.
-
Dh1,000 fine for parking in restricted or permit-only spaces without authorisation.
-
Dh200 fine for overnight parking (6am–6am).
Shoppers receive a reminder SMS after two days and a follow-up call on day three before the fine is issued.

Why the Change?
Majid Al Futtaim says the upgrade — in partnership with Dubai parking operator Parkin — will handle over 20 million cars annually across City Centre Deira, MOE, and City Centre Mirdif, offering faster entry and exit without queues at barriers.
