Dr. Mansoor Alawar Participates in Key Dialogues on AI and Future Learning at ICDE World Conference 2025

Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) reaffirmed its global leadership in shaping the future of AI-driven higher education during the ICDE World Conference 2025, held in Wellington, New Zealand.

Representing the University, H.E. Dr. Mansoor Alawar, Chancellor of HBMSU, took part in several high-level engagements, including the exclusive ICDE Global Presidents’ Forum and the plenary fireside chat titled “Shaping AI or Being Shaped by It? Our Work, Our Leadership, and the Road Ahead.” His participation underscored HBMSU’s influential role in advancing AI governance, institutional leadership, and quality-focused educational innovation.

During the Presidents’ Forum—an invitation-only gathering of chancellors, vice-chancellors, and global education leaders—H.E. Dr. Mansoor highlighted the pivotal role of smart universities in shaping governance frameworks for emerging technologies. He outlined HBMSU’s proactive steps in strengthening institutional readiness, embedding responsible AI practices, and driving the transition toward quality-assured, future-ready education systems.

In the plenary session, featuring experts from UNESCO, Beijing Normal University, and Contact North, H.E. Dr. Mansoor presented HBMSU’s comprehensive AI strategy, approved by the University’s Board of Trustees. He shared key governance advancements including:

  • The launch of HBMSU’s agentic AI model, designed to support faculty through intelligent, privacy-aware automation

  • A university-wide framework ensuring transparency and structured disclosures

  • Ethical, human-centered mechanisms guiding the responsible use of AI across teaching, learning, and research

He also contributed to the panel “Building the Quality Blueprint for Stackable Education,” highlighting HBMSU’s pioneering work in stackable, flexible, and competency-based learning pathways.

H.E. Dr. Mansoor stated:
