DMCA highlights key opportunities in Dubais maritime sector at London International Shipping Week

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubais maritime sector, showcased the emirate as a first-class maritime hub and an attractive destination for maritime companies to a global audience during the high-profile London International Shipping Week (LISW) taking place from September 7 to 11, 2015. The delegation shared Dubais maritime sectors competitive edge, significant growth and development, and key opportunities with high-level government and shipping leaders and maritime industry pioneers from around the world.

Amer Ali, Executive Director of Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: The participation in LISW is an ideal opportunity for the DMCA to underline Dubai's pioneering experience in the transition to a leading global maritime hub as well as to highlight the results of an international survey conducted by global organization, Menon Business Economics Group. The survey has projected that Dubai will make it to the worlds top 7 leading maritime centres in the next five years, firmly reflecting our commitment to reinforce the sectors status among the worlds leading marine clusters.

DMCA presented a detailed insight about the strengths of Dubais maritime sector which has steadily positioned itself to be among the worlds top maritime centres. The first-of-its-kind Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy (DMSS), which was established to regulate, develop and promote the maritime industry while observing the highest standards of excellence, creativity, innovation, was also discussed.

In addition, DMCA threw the spotlight on the Dubais world-class services and infrastructure, its strategic location, business-friendly environment, and investment encouraging legislations in a bid to draw international ship owners, promoting its leadership on the global maritime map. The move will further drive the emirates sustainable and vibrant maritime industry, which can significantly contribute to the UAEs overall economic development agenda.

London International Shipping Week, a must attend event of 2015, is attracting wide participation of the most prominent personalities, companies and stakeholders in the maritime industry from different countries in the world. Attendees include regulators, charterers, ship owners, ship managers, bunker suppliers, lawyers, ship brokers, bankers, insurers, insurance brokers, commodity traders and brokers, ship suppliers, port operators, and shipping service providers, among others.
