DEWAs smart app wins best m-Government Award in environment category

Dubai, UAE 12 February 2015: HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has presented Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) with the Best m-Government Service Award in the environment category, to HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. The award was announced on the third and final day of the Government Summit, which was held under the patronage of His Highness. Out of 411 submissions in the national, Arab, global, and university-student categories, 76 qualified for the final stage of the second Best m-Government Service Award. Participation focused on creativity and employing technology to serve the public.

Winning this award crowns DEWAs efforts in developing its smart services, and highlights its success, following the steps of our wise leadership, to adopt creativity, innovation and excellence to provide high-quality and efficient smart services. It also enhances our efforts to achieve our vision to become a sustainable world class utility, and make our customers happier, said Al Tayer.

DEWAs nomination and winning the environment category is a testament to its success in utilising electronic and smart services to serve its environmental objectives. DEWA is one of the leading government organisations to support smart transformation and its role in promoting the well-being of society by preserving natural resources, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and providing a healthy and ideal environment in which to live and work, he added.
