Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won the Strategic Web Award in the Governmental Organisations Category from the Pan-Arab Excellence Award Academy. The Awards honour Arab government organisations that innovate, and implement professional and international standards, and enhance productive and intellectual opportunities by encouraging creativity.
“DEWA launched its first website in 1998 as part of its efforts to provide easier and more accessible services to the highest international standards. DEWA continuously updates and enhances the quality of its services to improve effectiveness and efficiency, and provide them to its customers anytime, anywhere to achieve their comfort. At DEWA, we follow the steps of our prudent leadership in adopting innovation and excellence to provide high-quality services. This, in turn, supports its vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, meets the aspirations of our wise leadership, and achieve customer satisfaction,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“The Award is an embodiment of our aspirations and efforts to lead by implementing global best practices and quality and excellence standards in our projects and initiatives. These efforts ensure the improvement of our services by adopting excellence as a culture, rooted in all our sectors and operations,” added Al Tayer.
“The Strategic Web Award is a testament to DEWA’s ongoing efforts to provide the best services to its customers easily and efficiently. DEWA applies the best and latest technologies that enable it to achieve its objectives of satisfying all its customers. DEWA has applied the best and latest standards to raise the efficiency of services so that they are easier to use and meet the needs and requirements of customers,” said Moza Al Akraf, Acting CIO of DEWA.
DEWA’s website meets usability and accessibility standards. It features 'life-events' that are linked to users' day-to-day needs and requirements. This classification makes it easier for users to get direct services and goes beyond just browsing the site for information.
The website adopts advanced levels of services to offer them as integrated packages. The website is available in both Arabic and English. It meets accessibility standards to help people with special needs by providing alternative texts for photos and links, and the option to change the font size.
Within the Smart Government initiative, (dewa.ae) website, applications provide services on smart phones and other devices. DEWA is keen to develop its services to meet the current and future needs of its customers.
All DEWA’s services are also available on its smart app, which supports major platforms such as iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows, Windows phone, in addition to Samsung home entertainment systems, smart watches, and Etisalat’s eLife.
