Addleshaw Goddard Advises on $80 Million Financing Deal to Support Orange Egypt’s 5G Expansion
International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has successfully advised Banque Misr and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on a landmark $80 million syndicated loan granted to Orange Egypt, a leading telecommunications provider in the country.
This financing is a strategic milestone for Egypt’s digital landscape, aimed at supporting Orange Egypt in strengthening its telecommunications infrastructure and acquiring a 5G mobile operating license. The upgrade is expected to deliver faster data speeds, improved connectivity, and enhanced mobile network efficiency, benefiting millions of consumers and enterprises across the country.
The loan is structured in two equal tranches, with both Banque Misr and EBRD contributing $40 million each. The involvement of these major institutions underscores growing confidence in Egypt’s digital transformation journey and its alignment with sustainable development goals.
In addition to advancing Egypt’s digital capabilities, the deal also highlights the environmental benefits of 5G technology, which is recognized for being more energy-efficient than previous network generations. This aligns with the nation’s broader push toward sustainable infrastructure development and carbon reduction in the tech sector.
