3rd edition of ICT Competition of Huawei get started in Lebanon

The latest edition of the annual Huawei Middle East ICT Competition in Lebanon gets launched by Huawei, a worldwide leader of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices. H.E. Mohammad Choucair, sponsored the inaugurating ceremony in Beirut and the representatives from the nations technology community participated.

The Huawei Middle East ICT Competition will be held in Lebanon as well as in nine additional nations across the Middle East, by combining Huawei's aim to encourage local ICT talent with its vision to introduce digital to every individuals, home and organization. Students of universities are encouraged to register now for the contest via a special Website.

"Lebanon is moving quickly into the digital age through the inventiveness of the government and private industries," said H.E. Mohammad Choucair, minister of telecommunications. Investment in our people is therefore a top concern as the fourth industrial revolution benefits us from this. Our collaboration with private sector is of prime importance in this objective, and we appreciate Huawei's attempts to support the young individuals of Lebanon for put in order to the promising ICT careers he added.

The future prosperity of all the countries is based on the development of the ICT knowledge in younger generations said Mr. Paul Fengnan, CEO of Huawei Levant Region. Huawei's attempts to have a beneficial effect on the society have always been part of nurturing local talent in Lebanon. Huawei not only has long led the industry's development at the borders of technology like 5 G or cloud computing, but has also invested strongly in the preparation of talent and the creation of a talented ecosystem he added.

This competition encourages creativity and innovation and serves as a link between the classroom and the workforce. It forms part of the broader talent development agenda in Huawei, supporting Lebanon's domestic ICT capacities and priorities for the government to nurture a generation of digital transformation leaders.

Contributors will be evaluated for their cloud, switch, routing and network safety skills. The competition also provides participants with updates on the most recent technologies like IoT, AI, Big Data and, especially, the 5G which are all lead by Huawei a global leader of future technology. The contest offers students a distinctive chance to demonstrate their expertise in the most advanced ICT areas and enables local colleges and universities to better comprehend and optimize their curriculum according to their talent demands.

The contest consists of three episodes: a preliminary, a national and a regional finale. At the regional finals happening in the end of November, the national winners will travel to the international tech center in Shenzhen, China. During their time in China, the domestic winners will be exposed to the expertise from Huawei, including invaluable cultural experience and knowledge-sharing, in terms of telecommunications, business and consumer companies. Finalists are also encouraged to perform field experiments in Huawei's worldwide headquarters ' dedicated laboratories and study centres.

The contest offers an online guide to participants and is led by university professors and professionals from Huawei. The function of the university teachers is to encourage attendees to enter the final phase of the contest, accompany national winners into Huawei's global final and discuss future growth of the competitive environment and ICT talents with Huawei.

On the regional level, more than 14,000 students throughout the Middle East enlisted themselves in the 2018 competition. From them around 5,000 students were participated. More than 200 students took to the national finals. From them 39 were representing the 13 universities and traveled to China for compete globally.
